Job Details

Responsibilties 

  • Manage a civil litigation portfolio under the supervision of the firm's director
  • Draft pleadings, notices, affidavits, legal opinions, correspondence, and settlement agreements
  • Institute and defend proceedings in both the Magistrates' Courts and the High Court
  • Attend court appearances, case management meetings, pre-trial conferences, and client consultations
  • Prepare trial bundles, court files, and briefing notes for counsel
  • Conduct legal research and produce written legal opinions as required
  • Draft applications, motions, and interlocutory proceedings
  • Liaise professionally with clients, advocates, correspondents, sheriffs, and opposing attorneys
  • Ensure compliance with court rules, practice directives, and litigation timelines
  • Maintain accurate client files and provide regular progress updates

Minimum Requirements 
  • Newly admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
  • Minimum 2 years of articles completed
  • Civil litigation experience (candidates with Road Accident Fund experience only will not be considered)
  • Candidate from a designated group as defined in the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998 — preference for a black male or female candidate aged 25–35
  • Excellent drafting, communication, and organisational skills
  • Computer literate in MS Office, Caselines, and Court Online
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple matters
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable motor vehicle
  • Currently residing in the City of Johannesburg
