AI Engineer / Data Scientist - Johannesburg - up to R980k per annum

Our client looking for an AI Engineer passionate about building intelligent systems and turning data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate will work across AI, machine learning, and data analytics to design, develop, and deploy scalable solutions that solve real business problems.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deploy machine learning and AI models
• Perform data analysis and extract insights from large datasets
• Build predictive models and data-driven solutions
• Work with Python-based data science and ML libraries
• Support statistical analysis and reporting using SAS
• Integrate AI solutions into business systems and workflows
• Collaborate with teams to improve data-driven decision-making

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
• Master's degree in Data Science / AI / Machine Learning (preferred but not required)
• Certifications in AI/ML or Data Analytics (advantageous)
• Strong knowledge of Python for Data Science and Machine Learning
• Experience in Data Analysis and Data Science workflows
• Understanding of Machine Learning algorithms and model evaluation
• Familiarity with SAS for statistical analysis (advantageous)
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
• ChatGPT, Claude
• GitHub Copilot
• OpenAI APIs / LLM APIs
• LangChain / LLM orchestration tools (preferred)
• Hugging Face ecosystem
• Azure AI / AWS AI services (advantageous)
