Our client in the manufacturing industry is looking to hire a Assistant General Manager to join their team in Germiston
Minimum requirements:
- Matric or relevant NQF qualification
- CA (SA) qualification
- +- 4 years experience proven senior management experience, particularly at a manager-of-managers level
- Experience operating in a multi-branch business environment
- Broad exposure across key business functions such as Sales, Operations, Administration, and Finance
- Valid drivers licence and own vehicle
Key Responsibilities:
Systems, Standards & Scalability- Build, improve, and maintain systems that make the business more efficient, measurable, and easier to manage.
- Put clear standards in place across all branches and departments to ensure consistency in service, discipline, and output.
- Regularly review branch operations to ensure alignment with company expectations, culture, and working standards.
- Help create a business that can grow without losing control, structure, or accountability
Operational Strategy & Execution- Turn company strategy into clear operational action plans and ensure they are carried through.
- Keep a close eye on performance, deadlines, and day-to-day operational rhythm so that priorities do not lose momentum.
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and breakdowns between departments, then work to remove them.
- Ensure the business remains focused on execution and that important matters are dealt with properly and on time
Leadership & Accountability- Lead, manage, and develop Branch Managers and Department Heads to improve leadership strength across the business.
- Drive a culture where managers take ownership, solve problems early, and do not allow issues to drift.
- Hold leaders accountable in a firm but fair manner, while maintaining calm and professionalism under pressure.
- Create credibility with teams by being practical, consistent, holding teams accountable and willing to engage with operational realities on the ground
Commercial & Digital Oversight- Support sound commercial decision-making by understanding the operational impact on pricing, margins, cost control, and profitability.
- Use operational insight and data to improve decision-making across the business.
- Drive the use of modern tools, systems, and digital platforms to improve reporting, communication, and management control.
- Assess new opportunities, ideas, and operational changes with both financial and practical realities in mind
Cross-Functional OversightMust maintain strong oversight and drive accountability across the following areas:
- Supply Chain: Procurement and Warehouse
- Revenue Functions: Internal Sales, Online Sales, and Retail
- Support Functions: Finance, HR, and Administration
- Operational Risk: Security and general operational control
