Position Overview:

Assistant Resident Engineer Jobs in Kitwe As an Assistant Resident Engineer, you will work closely with the Senior Resident Engineer to ensure the successful delivery and supervision of civil engineering projects. Your role will be critical to maintaining safety, quality, and adherence to project scope, timelines, budgets, and contractual requirements.

This position demands hands-on involvement in site coordination and technical support across various construction activities, including dams and earthworks. Key Responsibilities Support the Senior Resident Engineer in managing and delivering civil engineering projects on site.

Provide technical expertise relating to dams engineering, earthworks, and associated civil infrastructure. Supervise contractors and ensure construction activities comply with approved designs, specifications, and contractual obligations.

Assist in planning, developing, and monitoring project programmes and construction schedules. Track project progress, identify risks or delays, and escalate issues appropriately.

Conduct site investigations, inspections, and gather essential technical data. Review construction methodologies, inspection plans, and technical documentation.

Monitor project quality, progress, resources, and deliverables, supporting quality assurance and control procedures. Prepare detailed technical and progress reports following regular site inspections.

Assist with reviewing contractor submissions, handling technical queries, variations, claims, and non-conformance reports. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and mining site standards.

Coordinate effectively with contractors, consultants, client representatives, and other stakeholders. Support resource and timeline management in line with contractual requirements.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience National Diploma or BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering with professional registration from the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ). At least 15 years of civil engineering experience, including dams engineering, earthworks, and construction supervision.

Practical knowledge of site investigations, civil infrastructure construction, and construction supervision. Experience in project planning, programming, and progress monitoring.

Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control processes. Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, and construction documentation.

Experience collaborating with contractors and multidisciplinary project teams. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and reporting skills.

Ability to take ownership of responsibilities while working effectively within a team. Willingness to mentor junior and mid-level technical and site personnel.

Good verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability and willingness to work on a mining site for the contract duration.
