Contract: 6 to 12 months (negotiable based on project scope)
Working Model Hybrid: 3 days onsite | 2 days remote per week
Purpose
Our client is seeking an experienced Data Engineering Lead to lead the Data Engineering function. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing enterprise data platforms and pipelines that enable analytics, AI, and business intelligence across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing Data Engineering teams.
- Design, build, and optimise enterprise data pipelines and platforms.
- Establish DataOps, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
- Drive platform performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Product, and Analytics teams to deliver business outcomes.
- Embed data quality, security, and governance standards into engineering practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Oversee delivery planning, technical quality, and operational excellence.
Requirements
- 8+ years' experience in Data Engineering.
- 3+ years' experience leading Data Engineering teams.
- Strong experience with Apache Spark.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD and DataOps practices.
- Experience with cloud data platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills.
