The role focuses on optimising designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery within fast-paced retail environments.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Execution
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models and technical drawing packs for manufacturing and installation
- Design and detail components using materials such as wood, metal, plastics, and related finishes
- Ensure designs are production-ready, accurate, and aligned with manufacturing capabilities
Project & Team Leadership- Guide projects through the full product development lifecycle, from concept to final delivery
- Provide technical support and mentorship to junior designers and draughtsmen
- Ensure deadlines, quality standards, and design intent are met
Cross-Functional Collaboration- Work closely with design teams, sales, production, electrical teams, and site personnel
- Support the delivery of bespoke in-store retail and shopfitting solutions
- Participate in problem-solving and value engineering to meet client and budget requirements
Minimum Requirements- Mechanical Engineering Degree or Diploma
- Proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
- 5–10+ years’ experience in design and manufacturing environments
- Experience within retail, shopfitting, or bespoke manufacturing environments (highly advantageous)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material selection
