Purpose of the PositionThe Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing all financial activities within a hospitality establishment. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, cost control, and effective financial planning to support the profitability and operational success of the business. Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial ManagementOversee the daily financial operations of the establishment.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Monitor cash flow, banking activities, and financial transactions.Ensure accurate accounting records and financial systems are maintained.Budgeting and ForecastingDevelop and manage operational budgets and financial forecasts.Monitor departmental expenditure and financial performance.Analyse financial data and provide recommendations to management.Cost ControlMonitor food, beverage, labour, and operational costs.Identify areas for cost reduction and improved profitability.Ensure effective stock and inventory control procedures are implemented.Accounts and PayrollSupervise accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.Oversee payroll administration and statutory deductions.Ensure supplier payments and invoicing are processed accurately.Compliance and AuditingEnsure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and company policies.Prepare financial records for internal and external audits.Maintain accurate documentation and financial controls.Reporting and AdministrationPrepare financial reports for senior management.Present financial performance analyses and recommendations.Assist management with strategic financial planning.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g. SAICA, CIMA, ACCA) advantageous.
Experience- 5–7 years’ experience in accounting or financial management.
- Previous experience in the hospitality industry preferred.
