Geologist Assistant Jobs in Serenje with ZCCM Investment Holdings Plc ZCCM Investment Holdings Plc is seeking a dedicated Assistant Geologist on a contract basis to join their mineral exploration team in Serenje, Central Zambia.
This role plays a vital part in ensuring the accurate capture and management of geological data in compliance with JORC, SAMREC, or NI 43-101 resource reporting standards. Position Overview:
Assistant Geologist – Contract Role The Assistant Geologist will support the Technical Officer – IM by overseeing field exploration activities and ensuring efficient operations on assigned mineral projects. This includes supervising personnel and contractors, conducting geological surveys, and maintaining comprehensive data records that support resource evaluation and reporting.
Key Responsibilities for Geologist Assistant Jobs in Serenje Assist the Technical Officer – IM in daily exploration duties and project management. Supervise permanent and casual field personnel during exploration operations.
Oversee drilling operations and ensure contractor compliance with company standards. Conduct geological reconnaissance, mapping, and geochemical sampling as required.
Survey, map, sample, and record geological data using plans and the company GIS system. Plan and execute QA/QC protocols for exploration activities.
Log core and reverse circulation (RC) samples accurately and timely. Support geological and resource modelling and evaluation efforts.
Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations by all personnel and contractors. Assist in preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly exploration reports.
Maintain systematic documentation and update exploration databases regularly. Keep detailed daily records of all exploration activities.
Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 Certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mineral Science with a Geology major. Professional membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and Geological Society of Zambia (GSZ) is required.
Recent graduates and final-year students with relevant knowledge of the Central African Copperbelt (CACB) and ore deposit geology are encouraged to apply. For experienced candidates, prior field exposure to mineral exploration activities such as soil sampling, diamond drilling (DD), or reverse circulation (RC) drilling within the CACB is essential.
Skills and Personal Attributes Physically fit and able to work extended hours in remote locations. Strong report writing and presentation skills.
Proficient in interpreting geological and geochemical data. Effective communicator with the ability to foster positive working relationships at all organizational levels.
Experience with geological software such as ArcGIS or QGI is highly desirable. Demonstrates integrity, attention to detail, and professionalism in all tasks.
