MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Certificate III or IV in Irrigation or Diploma in Irrigation and a current Chemical Certificate.
- Minimum two (2) to five (5) years’ experience in the horticultural or Almond sector.
- Strong understanding in the use and storage of fertilizers and sound knowledge of horticultural principles and practices.
- Ability to develop irrigation and nutrition programs.
- Decent computer skills, with a solid understanding of programmed maintenance or irrigation infrastructure.
- The ability to work autonomously, with good communication skills and the aptitude to assist in budget and tracking actual expenses.
- Capability to organize and supervise staff with a team orientated approach to have a positive impact and drive results.
- Current unencumbered car drivers’ licence.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS Irrigation Operations Support and promote maximum yield from trees through:
- Developing and implementing annual programmes to utilise best irrigation and nutrition schedule practice
- Actively contribute to and improve tree health through reviewing environmental factors in conjunction with the Agronomy team
- Preparing and ensuring the irrigation schedule is understood and adhered to
- Managing and directing Irrigation Teams’ daily activities relating to the maintenance of irrigation infrastructure, buildings and equipment
- Planning and monitoring key deliverables of the maintenance program
- Seek productivity gains and innovations that lead to improved reliability and efficiency of irrigation practices
Water Delivery Oversee and manage all tasks associated with water delivery by:
- Managing all water purchases, deliveries and necessary infrastructures to ensure efficiency
- Ensuring all safety requirements are adhered to, in line with legislation and company standards
- Ensuring accurate record keeping and measuring of all water delivery
- Monitoring of contractor management and maintenance schedules
Quality Control Support and promote quality standards through:
- Assisting in the establishment of quality assurance procedures and practices for irrigation practices
