Employment Information

The Medium Voltage Electrical Final Assembler / Fitter is responsible for the final assembly, fitting, and inspection of medium voltage (MV) electrical equipment such as switchgear, control panels, circuit breakers, and related assemblies. The role ensures all components are assembled accurately, safely, and in compliance with technical drawings, quality standards, and electrical regulations prior to testing and shipment.

Assembly & Fitting

  • Perform final mechanical and electrical assembly of medium voltage equipment (typically 1kV–11kV).
  • Install busbars, circuit breakers, disconnectors, relays, cables, wiring looms, and auxiliary components.
  • Align, fit, torque, and secure electrical and mechanical components to specification.
  • Carry out cable termination, crimping, lugging, and dressing according to drawings and standards.

Technical Compliance

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and bills of materials (BOM).
  • Ensure assembly complies with IEC, IEEE, ANSI, or local electrical standards.
  • Follow work instructions, assembly procedures, and safety regulations at all times.

Quality & Testing Support

  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of assembled equipment.
  • Support routine electrical and mechanical checks prior to testing (continuity, insulation readiness, torque verification).
  • Identify, report, and correct assembly defects or non-conformances.

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Adhere strictly to electrical safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements.
  • Use PPE and approved tools correctly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment (5S).

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Coordinate with engineers, quality inspectors, and test technicians.
  • Complete production documentation, checklists, and assembly records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in assembly methods and efficiency

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of medium voltage electrical systems and components
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Proficient in use of hand tools, torque tools, crimping tools, and measuring instruments
  • Knowledge of electrical safety practices and standards
  • Good attention to detail and workmanship quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual handling
  • Capable of lifting components within safety limits
  • Willingness to work shifts or overtime as required
  • Overtime, extend hours, night shift when required

Desirable / Additional Skills

  • Basic fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
  • Electrical certification or authorization (where applicable)
