Role Overview:
Maintenance and Reliability Planner Reporting directly to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance and Reliability Planner will develop and manage comprehensive maintenance schedules to optimize equipment availability and reliability.
This role requires close coordination with production teams to minimize downtime and ensure effective execution of maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and mobile equipment divisions. Key Responsibilities Develop weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance plans and schedules.
Prepare detailed job plans for preventive, predictive, corrective, and statutory maintenance. Coordinate maintenance activities to align with production schedules, minimizing interruptions.
Plan and oversee maintenance shutdowns and major overhauls. Scope, prioritize, and schedule maintenance work orders, ensuring resource availability including labor, tools, materials, and contractors.
Maintain and manage maintenance backlog, prioritizing critical work. Monitor progress against approved schedules and maintain reliability improvement plans for critical mining equipment.
Analyze equipment failure data to identify trends and conduct Root Cause Analysis for major failures. Recommend corrective and preventive actions to reduce recurring failures and support Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) implementation.
Review equipment performance metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and availability to identify improvement opportunities. Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, mining safety standards, and incorporate risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures in planning.
Manage contractor planning and control, and promote safe maintenance practices throughout the operation. Report hazards, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with applicable Zambian mining and occupational health and safety regulations. Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 certificate with relevant technical qualifications.
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related disciplines. Relevant maintenance planning or reliability certification is advantageous.
Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in maintenance planning, reliability engineering, or maintenance supervision. Strong preference for candidates with mining industry experience.
Familiarity with heavy mobile mining equipment, fixed processing plants, electrical systems, or heavy industrial machinery. Proven experience in preventive and predictive maintenance, shutdown and major maintenance planning.
