Job Details

Requirements:

  • Certificate in a Technical Discipline or Maintenance-related field (NQF 5).
  • Trade Test (NQF 5).
  • First Line Management Certificate (FLMP) (NQF 5).
  • Diploma in a Technical Discipline or Maintenance-related field (NQF 6) (advantageous).
  • Up to 5 years' experience in maintenance operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • 1–2 years' supervisory experience.
  • Experience working shifts.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite, SAP, ERP, and maintenance management systems).
  • Sound knowledge of maintenance practices, procedures, and manufacturing processes.
  • Good understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, and manufacturing legislation.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily factory maintenance operations.
  • Coordinate reactive, preventative, and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Minimise plant and equipment downtime through effective maintenance planning.
  • Coordinate first-line maintenance to optimise production efficiency.
  • Raise and manage maintenance job cards and ensure required work permits are obtained.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (5 Why, 8D, etc.) to prevent recurring equipment failures.
  • Review and approve completed maintenance work.
  • Ensure plant, equipment, and work areas remain safe and well maintained.
  • Enforce housekeeping standards throughout the factory.
  • Coordinate planned plant shutdowns and maintenance activities.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and provide feedback to management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.
  • Promote and enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
  • Identify operational risks and report concerns to management.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and records.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Resolve maintenance-related issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Supervise and support maintenance team members.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews and monitor performance objectives.
  • Identify training and development needs in collaboration with HR.
  • Manage employee relations matters fairly and consistently.
  • Assist with maintenance budget preparation.
  • Monitor maintenance expenditure and ensure costs remain within budget.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Promote the efficient use of maintenance resources.
