Role Overview and Key Responsibilities The Mine Geologist will play a pivotal role in overseeing grade control activities, maintaining data integrity, and supporting ore quality management.

Adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards is essential, alongside compliance with company policies and legal regulations. Validate grade control data and manage geological databases accurately.

Verify grade control ore mark outs directly in the field to ensure precision. Collaborate with plant operations to meet ore quality parameters and optimize ore blending strategies for maximum recovery.

Lead and coordinate a team of field technicians to achieve daily blend plans and direct mined ore appropriately. Manage stockpile inventory and maintain high standards in daily and monthly reporting.

Provide timely feedback to mine planners and senior resource geologists regarding operational issues.

In addition, the role involves managing the Reverse Circulation (RC) grade control drilling program, which includes:

• Overseeing RC drilling to delineate complex geological features within the Kansanshi deposit.
• Working closely with the Senior Mine Geologist to evaluate and refine drill pattern designs based on evolving geological insights.
• Supervising field technicians, samplers, and drilling contractors to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Managing sample data flow from collection through laboratory analysis to database entry, ensuring data accuracy and security.
• Implementing and monitoring QA/QC programs to address and resolve any laboratory data quality issues.
• Driving continuous improvement of global best practice sampling standards and procedures.
• Qualifications and Experience Required for Mine Geologist Jobs in Solwezi Bachelor of Science in Geology or a related degree with Honours in geology, mining geology, or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in mining geology, preferably with exposure to base metals and open pit mining operations.
• Proficiency with geological software such as Surpac, Datamine, or MapInfo/Discover 3D.
• Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is advantageous.
• Key Personal Attributes and Operational Requirements Strong team orientation combined with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Methodical and analytical approach to daily tasks and problem-solving.
• Willingness to work shifts as required by operational demands.
