Available Mining Engineering Jobs in Chambishi We invite applications for the following positions to support our operations:

Blasting Engineer (1 position) Rock Mechanics Engineer (1 position) Chief Surveyor (1 position) Surveyor (6 positions) Blasting Engineer Key Responsibilities:

• Calculate burden, depth, diameter, charge weight, and timing sequences for blasts.
• Select suitable explosives and detonators based on operational requirements.
• Prepare cost estimates for materials, labour, and equipment related to blasting activities.
• Ensure full compliance with explosives and mining regulations, including licensing for storage, transportation, and use of explosives.
• Develop blasting plans, warning procedures, and emergency response protocols.
• Supervise drill patterns, hole quality, and explosive loading processes.
• Monitor and mitigate risks related to misfires, fly rock, ground vibration, noise, and environmental impact.
• Train drillers, blasters, and site crews on safe handling of explosives.
• Document blast outcomes and implement improvements for future blasts.

Requirements:

• Minimum Grade 12 qualification.
• Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering.
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in open-pit or underground drill and blast operations.
• Valid blasting licence and paid-up membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
• Proven expertise in vibration monitoring and fragmentation assessments.
• Strong knowledge of mining and explosives regulations.

Rock Mechanics Engineer Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and supervise geotechnical drilling activities.
• Conduct detailed mapping of joints, faults, and fractures.
• Analyse underground opening stability using advanced rock mechanics software.
• Design rock bolt, cable bolt, and mesh support systems for ground control.
• Assess rock-fall hazards and investigate structural failures.
• Ensure compliance with mining safety codes and regulations.
• Prepare weekly and monthly geotechnical reports.
• Train site personnel on ground support standards and hazard identification.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mining operations.
• Familiarity with rock-mass classification systems and structural analysis.
• Understanding of cut-and-fill mining methods.
• Membership in a recognised professional institute.

Chief Surveyor Key Responsibilities:

• Develop programmes and schedules for both underground and surface surveying projects.
• Ensure adherence to government mining regulations and survey standards.
• Set out pits and tunnels according to approved designs.
• Process survey data using software such as AutoCAD.
• Monitor underground excavation progress and control.
• Measure advances and estimate ore volumes accurately.
• Prepare mining layouts, plans, and periodic survey reports.
• Conduct volumetric calculations for ore reserves and resource estimations.
• Manage, train, and supervise surveyors and technicians.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics Engineering.
• At least 5 years of proven underground mine surveying experience.
• Proficiency with Leica instruments, Deswik, or similar survey software.
• Experience with stope CMS scans and underground control network monitoring.
• Understanding of cut-and-fill mining methods.
• Membership of a recognised professional institute.

Surveyor (6 Positions) Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct underground surveys using total stations, levels, inclinometers, and related equipment according to design specifications.
• Collect 3D profiles, cross-sections, and survey data from underground and surface locations.
• Establish and maintain primary and secondary control points.
• Perform surface surveys including shaft monitoring and mapping.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior team members.
• Maintain surveying equipment to operational standards.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 Certificate.
• Degree or Diploma in Geomatics or Surveying from a recognised institution.
• Minimum of 2 years’ mining sector experience.
• Valid practising licence from a professional surveying body.
