Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Marketing, Business Management or a related field.
  • A postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Minimum of 10 years' commercial sales experience within the FMCG, Consumer Goods or Food Manufacturing industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience leading and developing Sales Representatives or a regional sales team.
  • Proven track record in business development, sales growth and key account management.
  • Experience managing strategic retail, wholesale and Independent Trade customers.
  • Strong commercial, financial and analytical acumen.
  • Experience developing and implementing commercial sales strategies.
  • Proven ability to negotiate pricing, trading agreements and customer contracts.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with SAP, Salesforce or other CRM systems will be advantageous.
  • Experience within leading FMCG organisations such as Unilever, Tiger Brands, PepsiCo, AVI, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, Nestlé, McCain Foods, AB InBev or similar will be highly advantageous.
  • Experience managing national retail customers including Shoprite, Pick n Pay, SPAR, Makro and Independent Trade.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, motivate and develop a team of Sales Representatives to achieve regional sales targets.
  • Develop and execute commercial sales strategies that deliver profitable growth.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities while expanding existing customer accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with key retail, wholesale and independent customers.
  • Negotiate pricing, promotional activities, trading terms and customer agreements.
  • Monitor regional sales performance and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions and performance reviews.
  • Analyse sales performance, customer profitability and market trends.
  • Prepare sales forecasts, budgets and performance reports.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Supply Chain and Operations to ensure exceptional customer service and execution.
  • Ensure effective account management while delivering sustainable and profitable business growth.
