Position Overview:
Reliability Engineer Instrumentation Jobs in Kalumbila The Reliability Engineer will be responsible for delivering strategic maintenance inputs including Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), continuous improvement initiatives, and fault analysis for Control and Instrumentation systems across the entire plant.
This role demands a proactive approach to enhance system reliability and ensure operational excellence with minimal disruption to production. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with company and vendor safety and quality standards during installation, maintenance, and configuration of Field Bus Systems (Profibus, Ethernet) and Fiber Optical Systems.
Perform fault analysis and troubleshooting to eliminate recurring issues and improve process control system reliability. Maintain and update network and system drawings with all changes and red-line corrections.
Participate actively in reliability improvement programs and root cause failure analysis for process plant equipment. Develop and refine analysis methods to assess maintenance demands and equipment reliability, considering cost constraints.
Lead the Preventive Maintenance Optimization (PMO) project to keep maintenance programs current and effective. Collaborate closely with planners and execution teams to improve work instructions and job standards.
Develop and maintain equipment strategy workflows, criticality assessments, and defect elimination plans. Support health, safety, and environmental (EH&S) initiatives by communicating policies, identifying risks, promoting sustainable practices, and ensuring training and incident reporting compliance.
Required Competencies and Experience Extensive experience with Field Bus systems including Profibus (DP & PA), Modbus, and Ethernet networks. Proficiency in Siemens S7 PLC hardware installation and troubleshooting.
Strong skills in field instrumentation installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. In-depth knowledge of reliability engineering methodologies such as FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, and Reliability-Centered Maintenance.
Computer literacy with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project. At least 6 years of instrumentation experience in the mining or mineral processing industry, including 2 years in automated industrial processing plants.
Ability to read instrumentation drawings and understand Profibus and fiber optic networking integrated with Siemens control systems. Experience with variable speed drives and mining environment operations is advantageous.
Familiarity with maintenance and reliability systems such as ERP or CMMS, SCADA, OsiSoft PI, or similar databases. Qualifications Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, or related field, or equivalent experience. Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is required.
