Job Details

Tasks will include:

  • Cleaning and bench testing of items sent in for repairs, with use of diagrams and test instructions where available.
  • Design, manufacture equipment and repair this equipment as needed, down to component level.
  • Re-testing of these repaired units to verify operation.
  • Specifying, ordering of components needed for manufacture and repairs.
  • Performing administrative activities – performing day-to-day- administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and process paperwork, filling out of job cards on completion of repairs/testing and looking after all documentation.
  • Develop, compile and maintain manufacture, repair procedure and test instructions.
  • Support role to prepare and test all products manufactured in production workshop for factory testing before dispatch to project sites.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Good housekeeping will be expected, where tools, test cables, test equipment etc, are put away in correct places after use.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and support to team members to transfer skills and maintain quality standards.
  • Optimize manufacturing process efficiency and cost saving measures.
  • Carry appointment as Radiation Protection Officer and handling of Krypton 85 containing instruments.
  • Required to assist in production workshop with wiring and assembly, ALP with manufacture and repairs, stores with stock take, drawing office with filing, FES Construction work on sites, or where otherwise reasonably required to work during times of low order intake.
  • Any other reasonable duties called upon to do.
 
Working Environment:
  • The core job is largely factory bound, but support to other departments may result in work that require travel to client sites and work which needs to be completed outside.
  • Overtime may be required on short notice to meet tight deadlines.
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods of time.
  • Frequently required to use hand or fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and balance.
  • Occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary education in Electrical Engineering Light Current – Degree or B-Tech.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience.
    • Electronic design and component selection, manufacture, QC  testing and repairs.
    • Hands on use of the various tools & diagnostic instruments in an electronic laboratory.
    • Intrinsic safety design requirements, type testing and loop testing certification would be highly advantageous.
    • Test and repair rope test equipment and ALP products and proficiency to conduct work in other departments would be highly advantageous.
  • Ability to program and develop software code (C or C++, Python, Basic SQL, VBA, Ladder logic, structured text or function block)
  • Computer literacy essential (Word, Excel and PC Board design software for schematics, layout, design and electrical rule checks including Gerber file handling).
  • Good command of the English language.
  • Driver’s license
