A leading South African asset management organisation, responsible for managing large-scale investments across multiple sectors of the economy, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Advisor (Properties Legal) to join its legal team.

This role sits within a fast-paced investment environment focused on property and infrastructure-related transactions, requiring a seasoned legal professional with strong commercial acumen and property law expertise.

Purpose of the Role

To provide end-to-end legal advisory services on property-related investments, including corporate and commercial legal matters, complex transactions, due diligence, structuring, and governance support within a property investment environment.

Minimum Requirements
  • LLB degree (LLM advantageous)

  • Admitted Attorney of the High Court

  • 6–8 years post-admission experience

  • Strong background in corporate/commercial law with specialisation in property law

  • Solid understanding of asset management, property development, infrastructure, and project finance

  • Experience in governance, compliance, and conveyancing

  • Proven ability to draft, negotiate, and implement complex property investment agreements

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice on property investment and commercial transactions

  • Draft, review, and negotiate property-related agreements

  • Conduct and manage legal due diligence processes

  • Advise on structuring, restructuring, and security perfection of investments

  • Oversee conveyancing matters including transfers, bonds, and servitudes

  • Manage external legal service providers and conveyancers

  • Support dispute resolution (litigation/arbitration) where required

  • Advise on legal and regulatory developments impacting investments

  • Deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders
