About the Role: Senior Project Engineer Jobs in Kalumbila
The Senior Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in planning, coordinating, and optimizing mining operations to meet production targets safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. Reporting directly to the Site Manager, you will lead the technical team within the Engineering department and collaborate closely with the production team to ensure seamless execution of mining activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Engineering technical team, coordinating daily, weekly, and monthly mining operations and reports.
- Oversee all on-site engineering functions, working in partnership with production to optimize workflows.
- Maximize equipment utilization, including excavators, dump trucks, and loaders.
- Analyze production data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to reduce equipment downtime.
- Prepare and present detailed production reports and forecasts to management.
- Implement cost-control measures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across mining operations.
- Maintain adherence to company policies and statutory mining regulations.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Membership of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is advantageous.
- At least 5 years’ experience in open-pit mining operations.
- Proficiency with mine planning and scheduling software such as Surpac, Datamine, or MineSched.
- Strong understanding of surface mining operations and design interpretation.
- Familiarity with Zambian mining regulations and safety standards.
