Key Responsibilities
Monitor and test the quality of all incoming raw materials, including maize grit, vegetable oil, and flavourings (assessing size, cleanliness, taste, smell, and colour).
Conduct continuous quality checks on production processes, including extrusion, frying/baking, and flavour application.
Inspect packaging processes to ensure accuracy in seals, labelling, date stamps, product matching, and weight compliance.
Ensure all packing scales are calibrated and functioning correctly.
Verify correct handling and usage of products throughout production stages.
Perform laboratory testing on products and materials in line with established procedures.
Maintain accurate daily documentation, ensuring all quality records are completed, filed, and stored appropriately.
Conduct routine quality inspections to ensure adherence to internal standards and procedures.
Perform cleaning inspections across production lines as per scheduled cleaning days.
Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes, and support implementation of corrective actions.
Ensure product samples are correctly taken, tested, and retained as required.
Report non-conformances and quality issues promptly.
Communicate quality findings and results to relevant stakeholders.
Assist with additional duties within scope as required.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 (Matric) or higher qualification.
Previous experience in the food manufacturing industry is essential.
Solid understanding of quality control principles and practices.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Outlook).
Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
