Key Responsibilities

Utilities Management & Data Analysis

  • Analyse electricity, water, sewer, refuse, and utility consumption across a diverse commercial property portfolio
  • Monitor utility trends, identify anomalies, and recommend corrective actions
  • Produce portfolio dashboards, KPI reports, and management reporting
  • Deliver meaningful data-driven insights to improve operational performance

Utility Billing & Cost Recovery

  • Validate municipal invoices and tenant utility recoveries
  • Verify meter readings, billing data, and consumption information
  • Ensure accurate cost allocation and recovery across multi-tenanted properties
  • Review utility recovery ratios and improve billing accuracy
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and utility cost management

Reporting & Business Intelligence

  • Develop utility dashboards and portfolio reporting tools
  • Analyse large volumes of utility data to identify trends and inefficiencies
  • Prepare executive reports and presentations for senior management
  • Provide strategic recommendations to improve utility performance

Stakeholder & Query Management

  • Investigate and resolve utility-related queries from tenants, municipalities, and service providers
  • Work closely with Property Management, Finance, Technical, and Facilities teams
  • Maintain effective relationships with municipalities and utility service providers
  • Escalate complex utility issues where necessary

Sustainability & Energy Management

  • Support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives across the portfolio
  • Assist with renewable energy projects, including solar PV and battery storage solutions
  • Monitor Eskom tariffs, municipal tariffs, and regulatory changes
  • Identify opportunities to reduce utility consumption and operating costs

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain accurate utility databases, invoices, contracts, and meter records
  • Ensure data integrity across all utility reporting systems
  • Recommend process improvements and automation opportunities
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Utilities department

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • BCom Degree or Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related qualification
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in utilities management within the property management or energy services sector
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience using utility management software and smart metering systems
  • Strong understanding of electricity, water, sewer, and waste management within multi-tenanted commercial properties
  • Sound knowledge of Eskom tariffs, municipal billing, utility recoveries, and budgeting
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, including solar PV and battery storage
  • Understanding of South African municipal regulations and utility compliance
  • Valid driver's licence is advantageous
