To supervise and coordinate all activities within the transformer repair workshop, ensuring that transformer overhauls, repairs, rewinds, testing, and refurbishment projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to customer specifications, quality standards, and company procedures. The incumbent will lead a team of artisans, technicians, assistants, and apprentices while maintaining high standards of workmanship and productivity.
Workshop Operations
- Plan and supervise daily workshop activities.
- Allocate jobs and resources to technicians and artisans.
- Monitor project progress and ensure completion within agreed turnaround times.
- Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, equipment, and workshop facilities.
- Coordinate repair schedules and priorities with management.
Technical Responsibilities
- Oversee the repair, overhaul, rewinding, refurbishment, and assembly of power and distribution transformers.
- Ensure all repairs are performed according to OEM specifications and engineering standards.
- Review fault reports and determine repair methodologies.
- Supervise electrical testing, oil processing, vacuum drying, assembly, and final inspections.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting during repairs.
- Verify the quality of workmanship before release to customers.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with ISO quality procedures and company standards.
- Maintain inspection and repair documentation.
- Ensure all test reports and job records are completed accurately.
- Conduct final quality checks before dispatch.
Health, Safety and Environmental
- Enforce all safety regulations and company procedures.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety inspections.
- Report and investigate incidents and non-conformances.
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment.
Leadership and Staff Management
- Supervise artisans, technicians, assistants, and apprentices.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance guidance.
- Identify training needs and develop employee skills.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, and productivity.
- Promote teamwork and continuous improvement.
Equipment and Materials
- Ensure workshop equipment is maintained and calibrated.
- Monitor tooling requirements and consumable stock levels.
- Coordinate with stores and procurement for materials and spare parts.
