Backup Trails Guide

Set within a vast Big Five wilderness in the heart of Zululand, this reserve is a pioneering conservation and rewilding project that combines luxury safari experiences with meaningful community partnerships and ecological restoration. They are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable BACKUP TRAILS GUIDE who can deliver safe, immersive bush experiences while sharing a genuine enthusiasm for wildlife, conservation, and the natural environment with guests.

Candidate Responsibilities:

• Facilitate guided bush walks and game drives, ensuring guest safety while delivering informative and engaging wildlife experiences
• Support the Lead Trails Guide during walking safaris
• Interpret the natural environment for guests, sharing knowledge of wildlife behaviour, ecology, tracking, and conservation
• Maintain safari equipment to ensure they remain in excellent working condition and comply with safety standards
• Assist with duties around the lodge and reserve as needed

• Minimum FGASA NQF2 qualification
• Backup/Apprentice Trails qualification, with the intention of attaining Lead Trails
• Rifle competency
• Valid First Aid certification
• Previous guiding experience in a Big Five reserve environment
• Strong knowledge of bushveld ecology, wildlife behaviour, and tracking
• Excellent guest interaction and interpretation skills
