Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the full bookkeeping function up to trial balance
  • Process daily financial transactions, journals, cashbook and general ledger entries
  • Manage debtors and creditors, including reconciliations, invoicing and payment processing
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow
  • Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, UIF and other statutory returns
  • Process weekly wages and maintain accurate payroll records
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for year-end audits
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements
  • Assist with month-end reporting and resolve account discrepancies
Minimum Requirements:
  • Grade 12
  • Bookkeeping, Accounting or Finance qualification (ICB or equivalent) 
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a full-function bookkeeping role
  • Strong knowledge of VAT, PAYE, UIF and SARS eFiling processes
  • Experience preparing accounts to trial balance
  • Proficient in Sage Accounting, Sage Pastel or similar accounting software
  • Experience with Vanilla Payroll or similar payroll systems advantageous
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
Advantageous:
  • Experience within an SME environment with responsibility for the full finance function
  • Exposure to audit preparation and liaison with external auditors
  • Experience using online banking platforms and payroll systems
