Compact Food Solutions, situated in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town in Muizenberg, is the local branch of an international food manufacturing facility specialising in therapeutic foods and nutritional solutions.

The company is looking for a Demand and Supply Planner to join the team in the Supply Chain Department. The incumbent will report to the Supply Chain Manager.

The Demand and Supply Planner is responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of production by managing raw materials, stock levels and warehouse operations. The successful candidate will integrate forecasting, procurement and dispatching activities to guarantee uninterrupted production, compliance with food safety standards and customer satisfaction.

Duties:

• Stock Management:
- Forecast and monitor raw material requirements, oversee stock transfers, ensure accurate record-keeping using ERP system (D365)

• Procurement and Vendor Management:
- Able to negotiate supplier contracts, evaluate vendors, maintain strong supplier relationships

• Logistics and Warehousing:
- Coordinate internal and external warehouse operations, conduct stocktakes, ensure compliance with SOLAS and food safety standards

• Administrative Duties:
- Compile reports, maintain Food Safety Management documentation, support Finance with SARS queries

• Liaison and Assistance:
- Collaborate with Production, Finance, Quality and external partners to ensure smooth coordination and budget control

• Health and Safety:
- Enforce OHASA compliance, maintain hygiene standards, ensure adherence to HACCP and FSSC 22000

• Reporting and Analytics:
- Analyse commodity pricing trends, manage procurement budgets, present monthly supply chain performance reports

Requirements:

  • Diploma / relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain or Business Management
  • At least 3-5 years of operational experience in a Planner / Buyer / Supply chain role within the South African FMCG / food manufacturing industry
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, SysPro, D356, i-Comply) and MS Office
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC), quality control, and regulatory compliance in the food industry
  • Commercial acumen with an understanding of pricing trends, commodity markets and forex impacts
  • Advantageous: first aid and/or fire-fighting training, Health and Safety training and experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Analytical, detail-oriented and solution-driven
  • Strong organisational, planning and crisis management abilities
  • Flexible, adaptable and able to pivot quickly and find alternative solutions
  • Able to maintain high standards, good work ethic and integrity
