External Communications Manager Jobs in Mazabuka Zambia Sugar Plc invites applications for the position of External Communications Manager at its Nakambala Estate in Mazabuka, Zambia. This full-time, permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and shape the company’s external communications and reputation management efforts within the agriculture sector.
About Zambia Sugar Plc Zambia Sugar Plc is a subsidiary of Associated British Foods under the ABF Sugar Division. The company is committed to excellence in corporate affairs and seeks a qualified professional to join its Corporate Affairs Department as an External Communications Manager.
Key Responsibilities for External Communications Manager Jobs in Mazabuka Develop integrated reputation management strategies in partnership with the Corporate Affairs Director. Design, implement, and oversee the company’s external communications plan across multiple platforms including website, social media, and print media.
Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of communications initiatives to ensure continuous improvement. Produce and distribute press kits, press releases, blog posts, FAQs, and social media content.
Manage crisis communications in alignment with company policies. Enhance the Zambia Sugar brand presence at events, conferences, and public speaking engagements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media outlets, and public commentators. Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders on corporate communications and media relations.
Develop programmes to cultivate brand advocates within and outside the estate. Lead the publication of the Annual Report with a focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting standards.
Support key initiatives including Annual Reporting, AGM hosting, Investor Briefings, and Results Breakfast Meetings. Develop and implement a shareholder engagement plan targeting institutional investors.
Provide communications support to executives, including preparation for media interviews. Monitor media coverage and report on stories impacting the organisation.
Ensure compliance with Zambia Sugar’s policies including SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption guidelines. Candidate Requirements A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Agricultural Economics, Economics, Business Administration, Commerce, or an equivalent qualification.
Five to eight years of experience in communications, with a minimum of three years in a management role preferred. Proven ability to develop organisation-wide strategies that drive programme excellence.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Experience evaluating communication effectiveness and implementing improvements.
Familiarity with communications strategies and brand reputation management. Relevant qualifications must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
