As a Metallurgist in our laboratory and accounting team, you will be instrumental in performing mass balance calculations, conducting metallurgical test work, and preparing detailed production and reconciliation reports. Your expertise will support timely supply chain coordination and ensure product quality meets stringent smelter specifications.
Key Responsibilities for Metallurgist Jobs in Kalumbila Perform daily, weekly, and monthly mass balance calculations and produce comprehensive production and reconciliation reports. Conduct metallurgical testing and reporting using advanced techniques aligned with metallurgical accounting standards.
Collaborate with procurement to monitor and forecast reagent and grinding media consumption for uninterrupted supply. Work closely with commercial teams to optimize concentrate blending strategies ensuring compliance with smelter quality requirements.
Maintain laboratory safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence, adhering strictly to safety protocols. Lead and develop the metallurgical laboratory team, including training and skills transfer to lab technicians.
Manage laboratory QA/QC systems, investigate deviations, and maintain accurate test-work databases. Support processing plant activities by providing feedback and recommending test work to enhance performance.
Contribute to budgeting, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives within the metallurgical section. Candidate Profile and Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be self-motivated, and capable of working extended hours when necessary.
You should demonstrate problem-solving abilities and maintain a responsible and focused approach to your duties. Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a metallurgist in a base metal concentrator environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with excellent computer literacy. Strong supervisory and interpersonal skills.
Educational qualifications include Grade 12 certificate and a B.Sc. Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering or related field.
Registration with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) is required. All qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
