Working Hours: Monday – Friday | 08:00 – 17:00

RecruitSmith is recruiting a Preventative Maintenance Assistant for a well-established retirement village in Somerset West.

This role is ideal for someone with hands-on maintenance experience who takes pride in keeping buildings and facilities in excellent condition. You'll play an important role in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for residents.

• Carry out preventative maintenance on buildings and facilities.

• Perform painting, touch-ups, and ceiling repairs as required.

• Complete basic wood repairs and maintenance.

• Report damages and maintenance issues promptly.

• Assist with planned and ad-hoc maintenance tasks.

• Complete maintenance job cards and provide feedback to the Estate Manager.

• Maintain and care for tools and equipment.

• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard.

• Work closely with the Facilities and Maintenance teams.

• Grade 12

• Previous general maintenance or handyman experience

• Basic literacy skills

• Able to communicate in English and Afrikaans

• Physically fit and able to perform manual work

• Reliable, responsible, and trustworthy

• 1–2 years' maintenance experience

• Experience in property, retirement villages, hospitality, or facilities maintenance

• Strong work ethic

• Attention to detail

• Good problem-solving skills

• Respectful and compassionate towards the elderly

• Team player with a positive attitude

• Permanent position
