Field Operator

Requirements:

• Grade 12 with mathematics & science (preferred).
• National certificate in process operations & chemical operations (advantageous).
• 4 years' experience in a power station.
• 2 years' experience as a Desalination Operator (PG7) or equivalent.
• Competent in all areas except DCR operation.
• English communication skills.
• Able to prepare shift reports.
• Basic numeracy skills.
• Ability to understand single-line diagrams.

• Monitor and operate desalination plant and power station equipment to ensure safe, efficient and continuous operations.
• Conduct routine inspections of plant equipment, pipelines, pumps, valves and auxiliary systems to identify abnormalities.
• Perform operational checks, start-up, shutdown and isolation of plant equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Record and monitor operating parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow rates and water quality.
• Prepare accurate shift reports, log sheets and operational records for handover between shifts.
• Identify equipment faults or operational issues and report them promptly to supervisors and maintenance teams.
• Assist with troubleshooting plant process issues to minimise downtime and maintain production targets. 
• Support planned maintenance activities by isolating equipment and preparing systems for maintenance personnel.
