Purpose:
This role is critical for the efficient operation of CNC machines, potting machines, and other automated production lines that have been imported directly from Chinese manufacturers.
Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree / BTech / BEng in Mechanical Engineering.
- Min 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in furniture, cabinetry, woodworking, or panel-processing industries.
- Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam, or similar
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and technical reading/writing) to enable direct communication with Chinese OEM suppliers and effective interpretation of technical documentation advantageous
- Ability to read, interpret, and adapt Chinese technical documentation (manuals, electrical diagrams, PLC programs, etc).
- Ability to supervise and train 5 machine operators.
Duties include:
- Lead installation, commissioning, optimisation, and upgrades of new Chinese-imported equipment.
- Oversee the operation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of CNC routers, CNC machining centres, edge banders, potting machines, and related automated lines.
- Design, develop, and optimise mechanical systems, jigs, fixtures, and tooling for cabinet production processes.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with Chinese OEM suppliers for machine commissioning, software/firmware support, spare parts, warranty claims, and ongoing technical assistance.
- Interpret and translate Chinese-language technical manuals, engineering drawings, software interfaces, and maintenance documentation for use by the local team.
- Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions, with specific focus on Chinese-manufactured machinery.
