Job Purpose:
To perform maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on various types of cranes (overhead, Jib or gantry) to ensure safe and reliable operation in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on cranes and lifting equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical & electrical faults.
- Perform load testing and safety checks in accordance with legal and OEM requirements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards, and service reports.
- Respond to breakdowns promptly and perform on-site repairs when required.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in line with company policies and procedures.
- Assist with crane installations, commissioning, and upgrades.
- Communicate effectively with operations and safety teams regarding equipment status and maintenance needs.
- Identify opportunities for improvements in maintenance practices and reliability.
Qualifications & Experience:- Grade 12 / Matric (minimum requirement).
- Trade Test Certificate: Millwright or Electrician.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Crane Technician or in a similar maintenance role.
- Experience working with electrical control systems, Contactor, VFDs and PLCs systems.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to site when required.
- Knowledge of lifting regulations and safety standards (e.g., OHS Act, SANS codes).

Physical Requirements:- Physically fit and able to work at heights.
- Comfortable working in industrial environments and outdoors.
- Willingness to work overtime, standby, or shifts when required.

Preferred Certifications:
- Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI) or Technician (LMT) certification.
- Rigging or Crane Operator training.
- First Aid / Safety training.
