Regional operations manager

Employment Information

Clydesdale is looking for a Regional operations manager who will be responsible for the overall management and performance of the regional operations function. The role ensures effective workforce planning, operational excellence, client satisfaction, compliance with company policies and legislation, health and safety management, asset control, and administrative governance. The incumbent is accountable for maintaining productivity, service delivery standards, and operational efficiency across all client sites within the region.

 
Key Performance Areas
1. Operations Management
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the regional office and client sites.
  • Ensure staffing requirements are met through effective workforce planning and deployment.
  • Monitor productivity levels and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Maintain accurate daily headcount and placement records.
  • Liaise with clients regarding operational performance, production requirements, challenges, and solutions.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors and operational teams to ensure service delivery standards are achieved.
  • Provide weekly and monthly operational reports to senior management.
  • Ensure effective shift handovers and communication between operational teams.
 
2. Staff Management and Human Resources
  • Lead, motivate, and manage all operational staff within the region.
  • Ensure recruitment, onboarding, placement, and employee administration processes are effectively managed.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development.
  • Develop and implement training initiatives and personal development plans for employees.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including performance counselling, disciplinary processes, and grievance resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies relating to attendance, leave management, and personnel administration.
  • Support the resolution of payroll and employee-related queries.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture focused on accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
 
3. Client Relationship Management
  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients.
  • Ensure client expectations and contractual obligations are consistently met.
  • Address client concerns and operational challenges promptly and effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and operational performance.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regional operational matters.
 
4. Health, Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety legislation, company standards, and client requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety throughout all operational activities.
  • Manage the availability, distribution, and control of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Monitor workplace safety inspections, housekeeping standards, and equipment checks.
  • Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure all sites operate in a safe and compliant manner.
 
5. Administration and Asset Management
  • Oversee operational administration and ensure the accuracy and completeness of all required documentation.
  • Review and approve timesheets, reports, fuel records, and related operational documentation.
  • Manage regional invoicing queries and support accurate billing processes.
  • Ensure company vehicles, equipment, and other assets are maintained and utilized effectively.
  • Monitor asset registers and ensure compliance with company asset management procedures.
  • Ensure supplier purchases and operational expenses are accurately recorded and controlled.
  • Manage the procurement and availability of operational resources, uniforms, office supplies, and consumables.
  • Coordinate IT, security, and facility-related requirements through the appropriate channels.
 
6. Reporting and Governance
  • Prepare and submit operational reports to senior management.
  • Monitor operational performance against key targets and objectives.
  • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation measures.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and governance standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and support audit requirements when necessary.
 
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Operations Management, Business Management, Human Resources, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an operational management role.
  • Experience managing large workforces across multiple sites.
  • Proven experience in client relationship management.
  • Experience in labour-intensive operational environments.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and occupational health and safety requirements.
